SciEdTech is a project focused on bringing real-world science and scientific data to the classroom. Data from ongoing research projects on topics of national and international importance are provided along with open-source visual analysis tools and instructions on how to use them to customize paths of inquiry.

Application Information

The Appalachian Regional Commission, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and Oak Ridge Associated Universities partner to provide a residential, hands-on 2-week learning institute focused on math science and technology for high school teachers and students.

Who – High School Students and Teachers from counties in the 13 state Appalachian Region - Teachers and students apply separately. Teachers are not responsible for the students.  These are two separate programs which run concurrently and may share special events.

  • When – July 7- 20, 2012 (residential program)
  • Teachers and Students receive:
    • Transportation reimbursement
    • Housing
    • Meals
    • Entrance fees to special events
    • Research experience at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (small student research groups and small teacher research groups will be assigned to a variety of ORNL research groups)
  • Teachers receive $1000 stipend.
  • Registration Fee - NONE

Application Deadline - March 2, 2012
