The Science Bowl is a fast-paced academic competition that offers a chance for teams of high school students from across the state of Tennessee to match their wits in math and science. Regional/state winners advance to the National Science Bowl® in Washington, D.C., all expenses paid!

Teams comprise four students, an alternate, and a coach. The competitions cover several disciplines: astronomy, biology, chemistry, earth science, general science, mathematics, and physics.

The competition is open to any school in the state of Tennessee. No school is too small. Schools can have more than one team as space allows. The same schools don't win every year. That's why they play the game!

• Winners represent TN in the National Science Bowl in Washington, D.C., April 26-30, 2012 (all expenses paid)

  • First Place – Trophy, $1,000, Expense-Paid Trip to National Science Bowl
  • Second Place – Trophy, $750
  • Third Place – Trophy, $500
  • Fourth Place – Trophy, $250
  • Civility Award – Trophy, $100
• Registration Fee - NONE –
• Travel Reimbursement:  Teams traveling more than 60 miles one way will be reimbursed mileage at a rate of $0.51/mile for one round trip from their schools to PSCC, up to a maximum of $500. Rand McNally mileage calculator will be used to determine allowable mileage. Reimbursement will be made for teams traveling together in one vehicle, not for single-occupancy cars. Mileage reimbursement forms will be available to coaches at the Hilton during registration.
• Accommodations: Coaches and students should arrive at the Hilton Knoxville Airport in Alcoa on Friday, March 2, at 3:00 p.m. for registration, sign in for lodging, photographs, social activities, and dinner. Lodging will be four students per room. Coaches will have single rooms. The lodging and meal costs for students and coaches officially registered to participate in the TSB will be provided by ORAU.

• Competitions will begin early Saturday morning, March 3, at the Pellissippi State Community College (PSCC) campus, 8.4 miles from the Hilton Knoxville Airport. Teams must arrive at the PSCC campus by 8:00 a.m.
